Flashdance Inspiration

I am not the one to be into old movies that mom grew up on but when I saw Flashdance. I fell in love with dance numbers, the style, and the message.
The movie is about a girl who is a welder by day and a dancer by night. She has so much passion for dance but she let's fear get in the way of her dreams.
I loves the style in the movie it was awesome. Below I picked out some of the style highlights of the movie that I loved.

The famous off the shoulder sweater
I love the overlay of the military jacket with the overalls

This is the famous scene of the whole movie beside the amazing dance number at the end.

I would so wear this fit. off the shoulder white shirt with ripped up jeans. Yas!

This was a little dance number. I love the leggings. I am trying to find some for the fall.

Oversize military jacket with some skinnies. Perf.

In the movie she played a welder. This was her work uniform.

My favorite outfit right here. I love it so much. I am going to make that shirt its a halter top. I screamed when I saw this and rewind the movie about 3 times. I was excited.

The red skirt, oversize coat, with a plaid scarf. another Yas.

DIY X Kimono

I love the trending style of the kimonos. So I went in search for one of these kimonos. I noticed that every single one I like was a little too much. I decided to make my own.

This is my first tutorial so bare with me as I try to go step by step on how i made this. lol

Finish Product ( more pictures)

Materials:
2 yards of fabric ( I used this sheer fabric from Joann)
Measure Tape or ruler
Scissors
Sewing machine or needle and thread ( I used a sewing machine cause I was too lazy to sew by hand)

First
I laid the 2 yards of fabric on top of each other. I used my measure tape to measure:
How long I wanted the sleeve.
Take the ruler or measure tape.
Measure from the shoulder to the wrist.
Take the measurements and mark them on the fabric. (As shown below)

I did not measure the length because I wanted mines to be long; if you want to make shorter take

Second
Cut the fabric where you made the marks.
The fabric should look like the picture below.

 Third
Cut one of the pieces fabric with a "Y" going down the middle.
I did not use any measurements to cut the "Y" shape. I just eyeballed it.

Last
Now you have 3 pieces of fabric. One left sleeve. one right sleeve , and a back piece.
Sew or thread each sleeve onto the back piece.
I did not take of me sewing the fabrics together.
I sewed mines inside out. As weird as that sounds and it turned out good. Thinking about adding fringe.

I hope I gave good instructions. If anyone have questions feel free to contact me.
